Doing our bit

In the grand scheme of things, let’s be honest, we make gloriously unnecessary stuff. That’s exactly why it matters to us that we keep our impact low.

This page is what everything’s made from, and what to do with it afterwards.

Even the web hosting runs on renewable energy, thanks to our friends at Krystal.

Cards

We use a premium uncoated board that prints like a dream and feels great to hold. It’s thick, smooth, and makes bold colours sing. No plastic here – just recyclable, responsibly sourced card.

  • FSC® certified

  • Recyclable

  • Sustainably sourced

  • Elemental Chlorine Free (ECF)

  • Unlaminated (and proud of it)

Why no gloss, foil, or lamination?

We keep things raw and real – no gloss, no foil, no lamination, ever. Why? Shiny finishes can look fancy, but they’re usually plastic-based and make recycling a nightmare. Our cards have a kind of rough-and-ready feel. That’s not to say they don’t look and feel amazing – they really do, thanks to the extremely high-quality card stock we use. The best part? The cards are fully recyclable.

Envelopes

120gsm coloured envelopes. Smooth, strong and bold.

No plastic, no windows, no pointless extras.

  • 120gsm

  • Recyclable

  • No plastic or windows

Compostable Sleeves

Our cards need protection, but plastic sleeves are totally off the table. We use PLA, a bioplastic made from plant starch rather than crude oil. It is still a plastic. What’s different is where it comes from and how it ends. In commercial composting it breaks down into CO2, water and biomass – nothing nasty.

  • Made from renewable plant starch

  • Certified compostable to EN13432 (commercial composting)

  • Best composted commercially – check your council accepts compostable packaging

  • Not waterproof – don’t use as an umbrella

  • Made in the UK

A quick note on the seal strip:

The peel-off sealing strip is the same type used on traditional plastic bags, which is far from ideal. Our supplier’s working on a fully biodegradable version, and we’re keeping our eyes peeled for better options until that happens. We’d also like to be able to say these compost at home, but EN13432 only certifies commercial composting – so we don’t.

Packaging

Everything your order arrives in, from the outer box to the paper tape, is fully recyclable. No plastic wrap, no pointless extras, just packaging that does its job and gets out of the way.
We’re not perfect, but we’re always looking for ways to do better. If you spot something we could improve, let us know.
